About the role: We’re looking for someone with 10+ years of experience who can lead social media for business, talent, and tourism in Michigan, in addition to other FINN clients. It’s important that this person shares our love of the state. From Detroit-style pizza to the Village Cheese Shanty in Leland, from driving forward Michigan’s eMobility initiatives to growing small businesses across the state, we need a team member who can bring and execute big social strategy ideas while also focusing on the day-to-day, tiny (but important) team management and details. 

This person will be a trusted advisor to the client. They will lead the social programs seamlessly, focusing on blending traditional and social media into a cohesive marketing platform. They will manage our internal team to ensure amazing, high-quality work that exceeds brand expectations while managing the scope and budget of the account.

Leadership & Management:

  • Client and Account Oversight: Manages all aspects of account operations including scope, team allocations, and billing. Ensures strategic partnerships and client satisfaction, potentially involving travel for complex negotiations. Seeks opportunities for account growth and service improvements.
  • Strategic Leadership: Directs the social team in creating and implementing client deliverables. Aligns outputs with client objectives, utilizing best practices and current trends to deliver results. Promotes quality and creativity through team collaboration.
  • Performance and Development: Supervises direct reports, establishing management practices and clear performance metrics. Facilitates regular reviews to support career progression in alignment with agency standards. Fosters a culture of innovation and open communication, encouraging the adoption of new tools and methods.
  • Agency Representation: Advocates for the team within the agency, ensuring their achievements are recognized and shared. Contributes to agency-wide learning and motivation through internal showcases, case studies, and thought leadership

Social Strategy:

  • Strategy Development and Leadership: Manages the team creating digital and social-first marketing strategies, leveraging audience insights, best practices, and cross-functional collaboration to optimize ROI. Champions the vision for social initiatives and represents this at client and agency meetings.
  • Content Planning and Execution: Leads the development and delivery of paid, earned, and owned content, ensuring alignment with the brand’s ecosystem and objectives. Oversees briefing sessions, coordinates cross-departmental contributions, and manages the execution, adjustments, and approvals of content strategies. Adapts strategies based on performance metrics and ensures cohesiveness across creative outputs.
  • Engagement and Community Management: Implements engagement strategies to build community, foster brand loyalty, and enhance user interaction. Manages community programs, sets moderation guidelines, and handles crisis management. Utilizes real-time analytics to refine engagement tactics and ensures community insights influence broader marketing strategies.
  • Social Listening and Analytics: Directs advanced social listening efforts to monitor trends and audience sentiments, translating these insights into actionable strategies. Develops and communicates comprehensive social media insights to clients and internal teams. Guides the integration of social media analytics into marketing strategies and maintains vendor relationships for social listening tools.
  • Measurement: Leads and is responsible for measurement of: the effectiveness of social and digital campaigns across all channels, utilizing advanced analytics tools to track performance metrics such as awareness, engagement rates, conversion rates, and ROI across various platforms and campaigns.

Agency Partner & Vendor Management:

  • Manages cross-agency integration and vendor relationships, ensuring seamless collaboration and alignment in execution of client projects. Acts as the primary contact for key partners like Sprout, Meta, and Google, negotiating contracts and coordinating services to optimize campaign performance and efficiency.
  • Oversees tool and service implementation from vendors, continually seeking new technologies and services to enhance operational effectiveness and campaign results.

Knowledge & Skill Requirements:

  • Proficient in digital and social media strategy with a track record of designing and executing successful campaigns across various channels, combining leadership skills to manage direct reports and promote a culture of innovation and growth.
  • Excellent at managing client relationships, negotiations, and identifying expansion opportunities, with deep expertise in social media algorithms, engagement strategies, and tool utilization like ChatGPT, Canva, and Google Analytics to enhance campaign performance.
  • Skilled in audience research, creating briefs, public speaking, and adapting to changing media landscapes, equipped with strong analytical capabilities for comprehensive digital marketing, including email strategies and customer journey optimization.

Experience Requirements:

  • Over a decade of experience in digital marketing, including 5+ years in leadership roles, developing and executing campaigns that enhance client engagement and business outcomes.
  • Extensive client management experience, adept at fostering partnerships, conducting negotiations, and leading cross-functional teams to digital marketing excellence.
  • Proficient with digital tools, including social media platforms and analytics, with a strong background in audience research and campaign management across content strategy, paid media, and website optimization.
  • Proven ability to incorporate emerging technologies and innovative approaches into comprehensive digital marketing strategies.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Marketing, Communications or Advertising
  • Continuous education and training in new digital marketing techniques and tools are encouraged to keep pace with the rapidly evolving industry.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Strong portfolio of successful digital marketing initiatives and campaigns, showcasing strategic depth and creative execution.
  • Participation in industry conferences and professional groups, demonstrating ongoing engagement with the digital marketing community.
  • Publications or presentations on digital marketing strategies would be a plus, indicating thought leadership in the field.
