Professional Experience
I began my public relations career as an assistant at The Ann Elmo Literary Agency in the 80’s followed by a marketing position in The Putnam Publishing Group’s Young Readers Division. That was a wonderful experience promoting authors such as Alice Childress, Virginia Hamilton, and Eric Carle among others. From there I stepped over to the agency side working for Planned TV Arts (PTA) doing book PR for adult nonfiction books. PTA was acquired by FINN in 1993 and it’s been a wonderful home for a book publicity division ever since. In 2012 we renamed the division “Media Connect” to reflect our broader expertise. Over the years we have worked with top publishing houses such as Random House, HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster, St. Martins Press and Norton, just to name a few.
You can observe a lot just by watching.

How'd you get here?
A passion for reading and living in New York City led me into the publishing industry. From there my strong communication skills and instinct for media relations opened up a very satisfying career in book publicity. As a result, I’ve enjoyed many close relationships with my authors, colleagues in the publishing industry, and with my FINN friends and colleagues. I also serve on the board of the National Writing Project, a nonprofit devoted to the teaching of writing throughout our school systems.
