MEET THE TEAM

February 25, 2021

What brings you joy?

If this year has taught us anything, it’s the little things that count. A coffee with friends, a walk in the park, even learning new skills – yes, I definitely jumped on the sourdough bandwagon… I’ve learnt to appreciate what’s on my doorstep and within my immediate reach, rather than constantly scrolling through Instagram looking for the next best thing and wishing I was doing what everyone else was doing. I do feel like there is now light at the end of the tunnel, and every day we are one step closer to getting our lives back and that brings me copious amounts of joy!

What are you looking forward to this year?

You better believe that providing all restrictions are lifted, as soon as 17th May hits, I’ll be on the first plane out of here! Travel is the one thing I’ve really missed, and I cannot wait to get away again and discover somewhere new or visit old haunts and much-loved favourites. Like all of us, I’m very ready to get back to some sort of normality – whatever that entails – even if it’s managing to get back into the office for one day a week and putting a normal outfit rather than the copious amounts of trackies that I’ve acquired over the last year. I think we’ve all learnt that we need to go with the flow and manage our expectations, and I’m cautiously optimistic that soon we’ll be back to busy bars and meet up with more than six people!

What key trend should we keep an eye on this year?

We have learnt to slow down this year and I think that will definitely translate into travel. While the Slow Travel movement had already gained traction, I believe it will grow even more this year with consumers travelling more thoughtfully and wanting to really experience the feel of a place. If social distancing is set to continue to be a societal norm, travellers will be looking to experience more remote locations with lots of open space – whether that’s an island escape or heading to the mountains or going off the beaten track rather than just hitting the top tourist spots.
