Why global collaboration is needed now more than ever
July 27, 2020
A global pandemic certainly wasn’t on my list of things I wanted to conquer this year. As we now enter the height of summer, and as many countries start their recovery from a horrific few months, the arduous process of looking at what could have been done better starts.
There are some people out there who will argue that the severity of the current crisis has been exacerbated by globalisation. That, with less travel and less movement, the virus would not have been able to spread at the rate it did. This closed mind thinking is certainly not the exit strategy we all need right now – what we need, now more than ever, is focused global collaboration. Collaboration that comes, not just in the form of governments working together, but also the general public, agencies like FINN Partners and business leaders.
One way to return to normality is with a COVID-19 vaccine – this is a global effort, with over 40 trials taking place at the time of writing. If one was to be successful, production and distribution would have to happen on a global scale, with all countries and pharmaceutical giants taking part.
Closer to home, at FINN Partners, collaboration between offices has never been more crucial: working together as a global team to share knowledge and expertise and to help each other as much as we can.
This is why a global outlook is crucial. As we as a society go through this unprecedented time in history, as much as it may sound like a cliché, we must all work together. Those who can help, be they global governments or you and your friends at home, should look out for those who are struggling. As an agency, we must look out for our work partners and clients who may need a helping hand and have faith that as a global community, we will all band together.
As the saying goes, ‘no man is an island’. Without globalisation, the world we are all so desperate to get back to would look very different indeed.
